TThe
house was constructed by hand over the ruins of a grand 16th century Hacienda,
with river stones, double adobe walls, stone chips, tile roofs and fine
wooden floors - employing ancient Zapotec and Mixtec techniques. The atmosphere
is warm, balanced, without a compulsion for beauty, where simple interior
and exterior comforts blend into a refreshing as well as stimulating setting
and attitude.
Blending colors, objects, textures and different forms in the rooms, patios,
fountains, kitchen, dining area, bathrooms, meeting rooms, library, little
chapel, gardens, native sweat-lodge, temazcal (native sweat lodge) and
swimming pool, the unique atmosphere is that of a traditional country
home in modern day Oaxaca
